Dr. Amy Hanson, APRN, FNP – C, PMHNP – BC provides telehealth services to foster a safe place for clients in the comfort of their own home to assist individuals in their growth and development as they make positive decisions to change their lives and future. Dr. Hanson is board certified as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner across the lifespan by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), and as a family nurse practitioner by the American Association of Nurse Practitioner’s (AANP). She has experience in community-based settings, university counseling centers, and private practice. In her clinical work, she prides herself on working with individuals of diverse backgrounds, from children and families, college students, and veterans to ethnically, culturally diverse and LGBTQIAA persons. Because of her own intersections of identity, Dr. Porter describes her approaches to therapy as integrative, generalist, and postmodern. This allows her to honor the impact of societal and cultural issues on mental health, while treating a variety of presenting concerns. Furthermore, she is a biofeedback practitioner wherein she utilizes technology in conjunction with relaxation techniques to relieve symptoms of distress. Throughout her academic and professional career, Dr. Porter has been invested in leadership and service within the field of psychology. She has served in leadership positions at the state level and served as the appointed, General Assembly Chair on the Board of Directors for the Association of Black Psychologists. In this role, she managed several committees that addresses membership needs. She has co-authored a chapter in the Handbook of Race, Ethnicity, and Gender, and authored an article in the Mindful Clinician. Her dissertation focused on the complexities of self-esteem, socioeconomic status on racial identity development in Black women. Additionally, she has presented at several national and state conventions, with the focus on multiculturalism and diversity. She is a proud alum of Central State University and in her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, cooking, painting, and spending time with family and friends.

Emma is a licensed professional clinical counselor with many years of experience! Emma sees clients ages 14 and up. She is here to help walk alongside you through those hard times that arise! Emma specializes in co-occurring disorders such as anxiety and mood disorders. She enjoys helping clients work through mental health concerns, relationship issues, career concerns, men’s, women’s and adolescent issues, communication and anger management, and many other areas that may restrict someone from living their full life! Emma sees a large variety of clients, including completing court mandated assessments and counseling. She is committed to being culturally sensitive, LGBTQ+ affirming, and trauma-informed, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all clients. During a session, Emma uses a variety of therapeutic techniques, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, relaxation techniques, DBT interventions, and solution-focused therapy. She believes in taking small, manageable steps, and working up to achieving larger personal goals. Her clinical approach is to provide the tools and support needed to navigate these challenges. Amy’s goal is to walk alongside you as you discover who you are, work through emotional challenges and find peace. Amy has an empathetic and trauma focused approach and is competent in person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and Alderian therapy. Amy has additional training in trauma work, including EMDR which she is beginning to incorporate into her practice. Amy values clients’ individual experiences including how cultural diversity influences their experience. Amy graduated from Ohio University in the 1990’s with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration. Amy worked in the health insurance and human resources industries within large academic and retail environments while maintaining a footing in the mental health world through various community volunteer activities. During the pandemic, Amy decided to get back to her roots and completed a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Wright State University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
